Last night was a bit of a celebration – I’ve finally finished writing Hawaiian Healing! It’s always such a good feeling to send off the completed file, close the computer, and know you’re done. The baby will soon go out into the world on it’s own. (You can pre-order a copy here, if you want.)
The real excitement? I can finally read some books myself! I like to take a week off after finishing a project, chill out, and remember why I love books in the first place.
I have a favourite spot I like to read, now that New Zealand is heading for summer, anyway. Our house is teeny tiny, but there’s a little balcony off the bedroom, and it’s a perfect little sun trap. A couple of cushions, my Kindle, and some snacks, and you’re not going to hear a peep from me for hours.
What’s your favourite spot for reading? And now I have some free time, any book recommendations? Clearly I love romance, but I’ll consider most genres except horror.
Congrats on completing your book! Writing a book is so much harder than it sounds, as I’ve discovered. As for romance books, I’d recommend Jill Mansell’s works such as ‘The Unpredictable Consequences of Love’, ‘Making Your Mind Up’, ‘To the Moon and Back’, ‘An Offer You Can’t Refuse’ and ‘Perfect Timing’. Besides that, ‘I’ve Got Your Number’ by Sophie Kinsella – it’s one of the best books I’ve read.
Happy reading and have a good day!
Regards,
Elusive

Thank you! The hardest part about writing any book is definitely sticking with it until it’s done. I think people underestimate how long it takes.
Love Jill Mansell, but have never checked out Sophie Kinsella – will rectify that immediately.

Congratulations, Libby! By all means, cozy up and enjoy. Hmm, romancey, if you read Me Before you (JoJo Moyes) the follow up would be enjoyable, After You. If you haven’t read the former, download it quick. You won’t be disappointed! xo

I’ve heard SUCH good things about those books, although opinion seems to be divided on After You. Good idea, it’s well past time to check them out.

I suppose I read the second knowing full well not to expect it to live up to the first. Made it easier to enjoy. Sequels are hard and the first stood fully on its own.

My husband and I are in the process of buying and renovating a house- one of the things I’ve included is a window seat. I’m hoping it’ll become my favorite reading place in our new home! Also, the last book in the Finishing School series just came out, so if you’re into steampunk, you’ve got a four book set waiting there! (Plus all her other series.)

Oh I love window seats! If we ever renovate I want one surrounded by bookshelves, for a little reading oasis.
