Try, try again

Me, about an hour ago. But with less of the fabulous tan.

It was only a couple of days ago I was blogging about giving up sugar. So smugly, I told you about how I was even giving up diet coke! How virtuous of me!

Well, I made it four days, which to be fair, is better than I thought it would go. Today, not only did diet coke make a triumphant return, but so did a bunch of lollies (does that translate for the rest of the world? I think for Americans it’s candy, Brits it’s sweets?), AS WELL AS a giant chocolate cookie. If you’re going to binge, do it in style.

Needless to say, I now feel slightly sick. I’ve also decided I’m never allowed to try meth, as clearly I make a terrible addict.

P.S. Tell you what though, sugar is great for fuelling fast typing. First draft of book two is almost done!

  1. OH! You are stronger than me! I have taken to drinking alot of water the last few years, but I still have to have my Diet Coke once in awhile. I typically have one a day, maybe skipping occasionally and maybe having 2 occasionally as well. And sugar … my lovely! I love chocolate soooo much. I could never give it up. I do resist it alot, but I have treats at least once a week. 🙂

  2. Sure, sugar is everywhere. No matter how much you try to resist from it, you can’t. Even the sugar-free products are filled with lots of magic sugar, which is harmful to our health. So, I guess it’s just a matter of taking them lesser than the usual diet like I did. For example, I love cookies that much. But, I have to be conscious enough to take less. So from 5 cookies, I am now down to 2. Just be consistent with this limit. Anyway, we all need sugar. It’s our energy booster. So, don’t inhibit yourself much to sweets. Just limit the quantity your body requires and be consistent. After that, everything will be fine. 🙂

    1. That’s such a good point about the “magic sugar” (I’m always going to call it that now). For ages I thought it was an ok cheat, but apparently not, and now it’s quite brutal trying to cut down. But you’re right, everything in moderation.

  3. I love sugar. LOVE. But I can do without it for a time if I have to. Not too long ago did a ten day cleanse that was no sugar, wheat, meat, and a whole list of other things I enjoy eating. My return to cake looked something like your picture up there (and with far less tan). 🙂

  4. As a person who’s also crazy about sugar, I can relate to your struggles. I don’t think that I can ever go sugar-free for even a day! Sugar is everywhere!
