Every now and then I’ll be persuaded to go on a health kick. The guilty culprit this time is my husband. He’s given up sugar and caffeine, like some sort of sadist. Who does that?! They have to be the top two best things in life!
Now, while you can pry my coffee out of my cold, dead hands, I do have a problem with my sweet tooth. I’ve been a sugar fiend since I was a kid. Probably one of the few way to ensure good behaviour from me when I was younger was to bribe me with candy. Actually, that’s still one of the few ways to ensure good behaviour from me.
So, fine, I’m also trying to reduce sugar. No cheating allowed – my beloved diet coke is also gone! The first two days were a bit tricky, but now I’m finding I’m coping with the help of a lot of sweet fruity herbal teas. Surely that alone means I’m a bit healthier?
Have you gone on a health kick lately? Or even given up sugar? If you have any tips for sustaining it, help a girl out!
P.S. Am I the only one that now has this tune on repeat in my head? It’s also the song we played when my husband and I were cutting the cake on our wedding day. Still get mushy when I hear it.
I mentioned giving up sugar to my family(hubby w/4 kids 9-20), and they looked at me like I must be possessed. Maybe I am. I didn’t realize how hard it would be. I tried cold turkey, like I did when I quit smoking, but that didn’t work. I no longer smoke, but am having a hard time giving up sugar. Who knew it was more addictive?
Now, I have just been cutting back a bit at a time. I see that I have wean myself like a baby with its bottle.

It’s ridiculously hard isn’t it. It feels like it should be easier, it’s just junk food, but it’s all I’m thinking about!

My diet starts tomorrow…. 😥 Low-calorie, and caffeine in the form of caffeine shots, if at all. *sigh* I made my rule for the first week to be nothing out of a package or box, even stuff that can be cooked (like pasta).

I’m terrible at having packaged food – I swear, if I was left to my own devices, it would be just fish fingers and frozen chips every night. Good luck!

Tried and failed many a times to give up sugar. Always comes creeping back in!

Honestly, if I make it a week, I’ll be impressed with myself.

I’ve been trying to cut back on added sugar so one of the things I have is a banana chocolate shake from Naked because all of the sugar comes from fruit but it tastes delicious and like a dessert.

Oh that’s a good one! I’m a real milkshake fiend, so have been mixing vanilla soy milk, banana, and tofu, and it’s allllmost the same.
